Brides are busy…in fact, we are all BUSY. Thanks to the creative mastermind at YuDu, we can now have more time. Sarah Hays is a genius. She has discovered a way to stop time, or better yet, let us buy it. Brides, women, mothers, men, business people all alike are tied to emails, deadlines, clocks, meetings, agendas and “to do” lists. It is “just” the way life is these days. In a recent conversation with the Charleston Style Concierge, I learned about Sarah at YuDu, and she is amazing. Her company is a solution to tasks unanswered. Pick up the dry cleaning, check. Gifts…bought, wrapped and shipped, check. Pet sitting, check. Drop off honeymoon luggage, check. Fire needy bridesmaid….CHECK (true story).
Some people may scoff at the concept of a concierge, be not afraid or intimidated. YuDu is here to help (in six minute increments if needed.)
Sarah makes me ask..how valuable is my time? When I evaluate how long it will take for me to stop working, manage the child, pack up the snacks, toys and 80lb Labrador and run the errand and versus reserving a concierge. YuDu wins every time. I love innovators, meet Sarah Hays.
In her own words….
I love what I do. The idea for YuDu came to me when I worked for a downtown law firm as an assistant and researcher. Attorneys frequently asked me to run errands for them or for their families. This included dry cleaning drop off/pick up, dinner reservations, car rentals, gift purchasing – you name it! At the time, I was frustrated. I respected their busy schedule but felt there should be someone in town who could run these crazy errands. After acquiring my Global MBA, I became one of those people who had no time left in the day. I would ride around with dry cleaning in my trunk and never take it in – much less pick it back up because the thought of taking five extra minutes out of my commute stressed me out beyond belief. I will not even describe to you the panic of grocery runs. I wanted to start up YuDu to help ME if no one else!
YuDu launched last year and has grown exponentially. New clients can be hesitant to hand over their errands but once they do, they are hooked! We run the gamut of tasks – from buying spanks and lingerie, to researching contacts for a new business in town. We handle pet sitting, schedule cleaning services and meet contractors and delivery men at people’s homes – so clients can focus on other more important things in life.
We do not require 24 hours notice and we bill in 6 minute increments, so clients do not lose time on small tasks – it is there for them to use when they need it. Clients can login to our website, see their YuDuList, track the status of the tasks, see their time balance, purchase more time, and enter more tasks. They don’t have to call us to see what’s going on – it is all right there!
Now how does this all fit into wedding world?
- Our services can be gifted to the bride to be used before, during, and after the wedding & honeymoon
- We deliver anything…from welcome packages to hotels to rehearsal party items and suitcases.
- We pick up gifts, clothes, invitations, linens…anything.
- We receive calls from out of town guests to answer questions and make reservations. We contact planners to make sure plans are on track.
- We take care of homes and pets during the honeymoon, mail out thank you notes and stock the refrigerator.
- Planners use us as an extension of themselves. We are the extra hands to deliver, pick-up, set up, etc.
