Today we bring you a couple that can thank the bride’s best friends for their love story…her furry best friends, that is. Here’s how it played out: when Susan’s dogs ran into the woods at her local Austin, Texas, dog park, they re-emerged with Derek who was there with (human) pals of his own. Susan and Derek then crossed paths again the next day when they both volunteered at a homeless shelter, and she discovered he was part of a ministry that happened to be visiting her church. Stars aligning, much? One long-distance relationship (and years of care packages) later, the pair finally tied the knot in Charleston at their rustic meets refined Alhambra Hall wedding. Susan and Derek’s taste for the simple things, evident in their subdued color palette and white WildFlour Pastry cake, was highlighted by pops of pink, like those in the florals by Tiger Lily Weddings. A dose of vintage flair was delivered with a wicker tricycle and distressed wood furnishings. And don’t miss that antique Cadillac getaway car—talk about a way to ride off in style. Susan and Derek’s day looks like a chic and comfortable backyard party that we sure wouldn’t mind an invite to, so we’ll be living through their fab photos and saying congrats to the couple for months to come!
