27 Apr Sarah & Demitri | Wingate Plantation
If there’s anywhere where sentimentality and style collide, it’s at a wedding. And here’s a Big Day that showcases that beautifully thanks to bride Sarah, who donned the same gown that her mother and sister had worn on their own trips down the aisle. Listen to how she tells it: “When my mother first wore it 37 years ago, the dress had Alençon lace sleeves and a high neck. Fast forward to 2009, and my older sister had redesigned it to have a strapless bodice with a low back. When it was my turn, I contacted Emily Kotarski Bridal. At the first meeting, Emily began pinning lace and fabrics until we had the perfect silhouette—an illusion neckline with alençon lace details—that became the perfect blend for my modern, classic, and timeless wedding dress.” Add “I do’s” at First Baptist Church of Charleston (the church Sarah grew up attending) and a reception at Wingate Plantation (Sarah’s family owns the John’s Island property), and her wedding to Demitri was absolute perfection.
