Courtney & Matt {Governor Thomas Bennett House}

Courtney & Matt {Governor Thomas Bennett House}

What a phenomenal way to end the week…a stunning bride, gorgeous venue, gifted photographer and styled planning. Courtney and Matt’s Charleston wedding was a west meets north affair. The couple wanted to infuse their Colorado and Maine roots into their Lowcountry celebration at the Governor Thomas Bennett House. Guests enjoyed a signature Lowcountry Lemonade {a fabulous libation created with Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and lemonade}.

    Here are some of Courtney’s favorite details…
    Lowcountry Eats was so wonderful to work with. They designed food stations specific to the part of the country my husband and I are from. I am from Colorado, he is from Maryland, and we live in Charleston. In order to personalize the menu, we did a “Colorado Station”, a “Maryland Station”, and a “Lowcountry Station”. The Colorado station included elk tenderloin that my father actually shot near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Colorado Station also included: pork tenderloin, grilled veggies and a sweet/regular mashed potato station. The Maryland station included crabcakes, salmons island clam chowder and a corn and bean salad. The Lowcountry station included shrimp and grits, mini tomato pies, and fried okra. We created a signature cocktail that was passed to our guests, “Lowcountry Lemonade”, which included Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka mixed with Lemonade. Talk about a treat for the out-of-town guests! In order to highlight the beauty of the gardens at the Thomas Bennett House, we opted for a smaller “dancing” tent, as opposed to a larger one that also had room for seating… a great suggestion from Lisa at Ooh Events. The guests got to really enjoy the garden and carriage house lawn during dinner without an obstructed view. Another great suggestion from Ooh Events was hanging lanterns from the large trees in the gardens. We hung large glass and iron lanterns from satin ribbon that coordinated with our wedding decor and it really added a lot to the setting. I opted for ivory linens. I had a wonderful family friend make custom table runners from fabric that I picked out from a fabric store in Denver. They turned out beautifully, and I was able to save money on my linens without sacrificing a polished look!
