Chanel & Joey {Pavilion at Patriots Point}

Lowcountry Photojournalism sent us this this endearing affair held at the Pavilion at Patriots Point. This wedding will just make you smile. It full of charm, a bit of DIY and whole lot of sweetness. Bold tropical hues and a casually relaxed and fun loving spirit filled Chanel and Joey’s big day. A wedding that celebrated their future and honored loved ones.

Chanel sent along some the details from their big day…

{We really took great pride in personalizing our day and using our wedding ceremony as a time to honor and remember loved ones that were lost and couldn’t be with us. During our ceremony, we had two wooden pedastools located on each side of the bridal party with mini bouquets on top of them to represent 2 loved ones who would have been on each side of the wedding party. I wrote a short poem, titled “A Butterfly’s Blessing” in honor of our loved ones. The poem was placed in the programs and we had our guests recite it with us during the ceremony while Joey and I each released a set of live butterflies in their honor.

During the ceremony, we also had a unity sand ceremony which is somewhat similar to the concept of a unity candle. Joey and I each had a vase full of sand- my sand was pink and his a neutral tone. We took turns combining the sand into one vase to represent our union.

We wanted the theme of our wedding to have a romantic Charleston feeling while being beachy at the same time. We made the starfish pew markers tied with ribbon that were hung at the end of each row of chairs during the ceremony. The ceremony was also adorned with hanging lanterns and brightly colored rose petals down the aisle. The aisle was tied off during the seating of the guests to preserve the petals and then opened up for the presentation of the mothers and bridal party.

For the reception, the ceiling of the tent was draped with Spanish moss by Out of Hand to create a southern romantic feeling. We created half of the centerpieces ourselves and the other half were supplied by Out of Hand. For those we designed ourselves, we purchased large coral fans which we spray painted a bright coral color and set them in vases filled with sand and floating water. We also designed tall vases filled with coral and yellow spray painted curly willows. The place cards were attached to sand dollars that we found on Isle of Palms with an ornament style tie for our guests to take with them. We designed koozies for our guest favors in orange and maroon- the colors of our favorite college and football team- Virginia Tech. The groomsmen wore light colored suits with coral ties and matching brown leather braided flip flops, which were Joey’s gift to the guys.

Our cake was provided by the amazingly talented Jenni Wong- we provided her with the design and she brought it to life.}
